Well, this wont’ be a long review. Everyone already knows about the Playstation Move and what it does and how it’s basically a grown up big brother of the Wii.
I’ll say some things clearly. It looks gay. your basically holding 2 Adult toys in your hands, with glowing sticks.
why did they put the glowing sticks? well, the camera, that’s also needed, tracks the motion of the lights to know where you are in the room…. so it’s a good thing. the lights are necessary. the ball shape.. is likely… to diffuse the light. had it been a plain LED light, it could blind people….
but …
here’s the good :
it’s very sensitive. the hardware tracks hand motions spot on. bam bam bam. fast, accurate, and can do things that makes the Wii looks like handicapped special kid.
The hardware is durable and seems consistent in it’s motion tracking. almost no glitches
the colors that the balls can change into are pretty cool… psychedelic even…
the games that are out there… not many… but those that are… reactt well and seem to work well to display the capabilities.
The bad :
the controllers look stupid. they don’t suit the Sony monaker.
the software is not yet made to track 1:1. it’s not fully dynamic, and sometimes there is glitches. sure, you can pick up a frisby, and it tracks your hand motions clearly… every position… but you still can’t whack the guy next to you….
the battery life. plays only for 7 hours
you have to buy a motion controller separate… which has no VIBRATION function. yeah you can use the SIXAXIS controller instead… but that’s stupid and awkward
the software gallery is limited still.
that said, it’s fun. very fun. has potential to do things the wii can’t do… but the developers better sack up and make games that are more hardcore. Wii is for the family and all… and i know that Sony wanted to tap that ass a bit…. but… ultimately, the hardcore fans which are more into the market to buy $60 to $100 games that they play for 50+ hours straight…. need games where a sword actually lobs an arm off.
you know the stories of people throwing the Wii into the TV? Well, with the Move, due to how sensitive it is, they did a good job to make sensitivity a crucial part of the experience. you gotta hit your oponent HARD if you want real damage….. I suspect we’ll see news stories of people dislocating shoulders soon.
