What irks me about this town… constantly… is the homeless. Hey, i despise homeless as much as the next guy… BUT this is not about them… this is about the state of this city, and how it allows the homeless to permeate the city so much.
San francisco is a city where they will spend $30 MILLION to blanket the entire city with wireless internet (wi-fi)…yet, they won’t put up a few buildings OUTSIDE the tenderloin somewhere remote… to act as shelters. If you look at a city like Philadelphia, where poverty is rampid… the city took special care to put all the homeless OUTSIDE the downtown area.
why the big deal? because, i dont like how they use tax money. CITY TAXES are one of the highest in the country in SF… almost 8% , … i should NOT have to be constantly haunted by “got some change?” or “aids, help” signs… i have issues with homeless and their way of life…. but i also understand that sometimes there are situations that cannot be helped….
my gripe is with the city… and their lack of prioritization.
SF city will just provide blanket spending $30 million?!?!
I don’t know what LA government is doing for the homeless… I am wondering if LA has the place like a shelter for homeless.
I don’t trust homeless… about that they are really poor or having a problem to find a job or a place to live. Maybe being a homeless is a job for them?? I have just watched the Japanese TV program which interviewed homeless in Shinjuku Chuo Koen… and they were eating cup-yakisoba.
it’s strange, but apparently panhandling average makes about $10 US per hour. Of course this varies, but that would be the average for San Francisco.
That’s not a high wage, but for not doing anything, it’s actually higher than minimum wage. On top of that, there are no housing costs, very little food costs, and no taxes.
