the US presidential debate went on two days ago.
A poll taken during the debates found that candidates would often revert to slandering their opponent. The interesting thing was… the public reaction would often fall for any candidate when they made a negative remark about the other.
When OBAMA said something bad about McCain, Obama’s ratings fell.
when McCain said something bad about Obama…. McCain’s ratings fell.
However, ratings consistently went up for each candidate when they would actually stay on a topic of policy and real issues… and offer direct views and plans. Even if their plans were not widely accepted, the ratings STILL went up.
What’s to be understood from this? Americans are starting to care.
Traditionally, a campaign often involved making fun of the opponent. tearing him down and dragging his name in the dirt. Not so anymore…. Because of the current jeopardization of the American economy… A lot rests on the shoulders of the next president.
The next president will be faced with a dying america and the responsibility of reviving it. the people know it, and they WANT an action plan. Making fun of someone is soooo “high school” .. and it’s not working.
I’m very impressed by this. Americans … as a general nation… are finally showing HEAVY interest in the political future, the candidates, and their economic health. They don’t want some bully teasing others in the office… they want someone that presents a plan, and stays on the topic and concentrates on facts.
Nuts to bolts, i betcha this election will have a HUGE turnout…. people that would normally not vote will put down their shotguns, put on shoes, get off the porch… and mosy on down to the voting booths….
