So i recently saw a movie that was really moving to me.
Its a korean movie called “time”.
For people who are unaware, its estimated that roughly 35% to 40% of korean females form age 18 to 45 have had plastic surgery. just a little factoid before i go on.
the movie is about a couple. the girl (seh-hee) is very jealous and contolling… however the guy tends to be a bit of a womanizer… yet he does indeed lover her….
Due to her lack of self confidence, she fears that he will leave her. She feels the only thing that keeps him happy is a new woman in his life constantly. So she leaves him… and goes to get plastic surgery to completely alter who she is. She then returns into his life a year later… as a completely different person… and finds that while he is dating and open to falling in love with “new”seh-hee… he is still madly in love with this woman who left him… (he does NOT know its the same woman)…
so she becomes jealous with her own self. The story goes into him actually deciding to find the woman he loves… years later… after being with this NEW woman… as the OLD is indeed his true love… so he separates with this new girl. At this point… she can’t take it anymore. … and decides to tell him the truth.
instead of being happy or relieved. He gets mad. Angry actually. For having his life messed with. for the years of depression this person caused him. all the stress… everything she did to him… he no longer feels love or jealousy or longing… he is ANGRY. he wants REVENGE for her stealing his life and time and heart and playing with him like this. He became a shell of a man due to missing her… when all this time… she was right there… WATCHING him in pain and misery and doing nothing. so instead of accepting her or forgiving her… he goes and leaves her too!
he goes off… to get plastic surgery… and she goes nuts trying to find him… to rekindle their love. He starts to play a game with her… where he tells her that he will appear before her soon… with a new face. From then on… EVERY man she meets… she thinks its him. so she constantly gets into problems as she sleeps with guy after guy… finding out its not him… she goes mentally unstable/violent… and becomes suicidal. she begs him to stop via desperate attempts at writing random notes in places they use to go together… but… nothing.
In the end… she must accept her consequences for the pain she caused another human being…
