ever heard of kidney stones? how about salivary glands? they are the things in your mouth that make saliva (spit)… each person hase 6 of them… 2 kumquat sized ones, 2 plum sized ones, and 2 grape sized ones. the plum ones are submandibular glands. they are located under your tongue… feel with you tonge the floor of your mouth… feel two jelly like tubes? those are the ducts to the submandibular salivary glands.
how do i know that? CAUSE I PASSED A STONE THROUGH MY LEFT ONE!!!! oh yeah. it hurt. a lot. now the side of my face is swollen like a golf ball is in my throat. this happened before… but i am getting really sick of this. every year it happens once or twice. it gets caused by a mixture of stress, dehydration, and too much calsium… however… the stress part is not so easily controllable. also once it happens… the gland is pretty much dead… so the only real solution is to have it removed. again… think about that… a PLUM coming out of your throat… a plum that your body uses. thats a big chunk of flesh! and yes… i am gooing to have it removed. maybe my cheekbones will be more pronounced…. sexy.
to top off my beautiful peachy stone-coming-out-of-my-tongue day…. i was asked to join the special kids today… to plant flowers outside… for 3 hours. oh yeah. never mind that i am wearing a suit… and that its barely 2 degrees above 0!!! also forget the rain, and that the dirt that we are using has pieces of ice in it. forget that we dont use gloves… no forget all that… what really irks me… is the poort handicapped kids having to do it. i mean… do they really need to do this? i am not a parent… yet. but i would really like some insight behind taking 4 kids who are not exactly physically olympians… and making them work like animals in the cold. and to top it off… teachers just sit there and watch them. in case your wondering… of course i joined them. however… i did not feel good about it. the whole time i was being my usual selfish self… thinking about my own stuff and what i will do this weekend and so on….
now i have a lump in my throat… and purple hands… from the frozen blood. you read that right. not pink… purple.
