I developed a Ammo Pricing Dashboard, if it helps some folks. I’m aggregating the majority of the cheapest online retailers (focus on cheap shipping) for ammo, with the main calibers, and their respective prices. I’m grabbing case material, condition (new vs reman), round count, price per round, manufacturer, and grains. With this you can do some cross comparison of various parameters.
Note1- I’m only grabbing this data once a day . if you need it live or on the fly – I’d suggest looking somewhere like AmmoSeek. as of Dec. 2021, most retailers don’t really change inventory beyond once a day.
Note2 – to multi -select, just hold down ctrl+click on PC or cmd+click on Mac (this dashboard works best on a computer…mobile works, but it’s still the desktop interface)
*Note : To multi-select filters, use CTR+click [pc] / CMD+click [Mac]
AmmoPricing Details : this is essentially grabbing all the details and showing you the stores most stocked, along with the cheapest & top 10 cheapest averages. you can filter by multiple parameters (such as brand new + brass vs steel + retailer along with selecting multiple calibers)
Retailer Inventory Comparison – the main use for this dashboard is to allow you to select multiple calibers, and see which retailers have EVERY ammo you select (ie, say you want 7.62 in steel & 9mm & .380acp in brass … this will let you select them, filter by price … and see which stores have everything you selected at the same time)
Time Analysis – this shows you how the prices have changed over time. earliest date is Nov 11th. You can also see which days are the cheapest for any given caliber, as well as how the prices have changed over time for both calibers as well as case materials.
currently I’m only tracking
.22 WMR | .223 Rem | .22 LR | .308 Win |
.357 Magnum | .38 Sp | .380 ACP | .40 SW |
.45 ACP | 5.56 | 6.5 CR | 7.62×39 |
9mm Luger | 6mm CR | 6.5 Gr | .45 colt |
17 HMR | 22-250 | .243 | 5.45×39 |
7.62x54R | 10mm Auto |
let me know if there’s any major ones you want to see tracked.
TLDR of what I learned doing all this :
1. stores usually list their inventory Wed-Thursday, with cheapest prices, so *usually* that’s best time to buy (depending on caliber).
2. you don’t really save much, even with shipping considered, by buying LARGE 5,000 round crates. in fact, these often end up costing you more. your best bet (usually); is to buy multiple boxes of 50 rounds, from the cheapest retailers. shipping is usually cheaper with a lot of these retailers.
3. while it’s convenient to use the retailer comparison to find where every caliber is sold in a a store… and it doesn’t cost too much more usually…. if you truly want the cheapest meta bottom of the barrel cost : buy a single caliber, from the cheapest place in bulk. then next time buy a different caliber. keep rotating. in the end you come out slightly cheaper per round this way.
Hey Alen!
This is a very cool tool. How did u go about making this? also, i saw ur a big tarkov guy. how long have you been playing?
howdy. thanks. I’ve been playing since 2017. unfortunately this tool no longer really applies to modern armor in the game…this was valid back in 2022 I think.
