On this election, as the counts tally up and we are about to enter a new year, a new chapter, and a new president – let’s take a moment to remember – we are all Americans in this great nation. Do not look at your neighbor and think “he’s my enemy”. Today, just like yesterday – they were an American just like you. You may not agree with what they say. They may be a moron…or more likely wrong in their views (or God forbid, you might be the moron!) … but they are NOT your enemy. We have far too many enemies and issues in this life, to be making up imaginary excuses to fight each other. Focus on uniting, no matter the outcome of this election.
Your neighbor, for all their faults and grievances with you; is STILL a better ally and resource than 99% of the problems out there waiting to end you. Do NOT waste this opportunity, no matter who is our president, to work together and continue making this country great. Not the president. not the government. not the politicians. YOU and how you treat each other are what matters most.
I take this moment, my unknown American friend, to let you read the following :
“I disagree with you, but I support your right to say it”
you recognize that concept, right? I would rather every fucking day of the year, hear that from you, than a SINGLE politician telling me “vote for me”.
YOU, even in obscurity, mean more to me than those in power. You, your worries, your fears, your passion, and your joy… matters more to me, as my neighbor… than who is president.
Remember that in the end, we are canon fodder to them. These elected officials are there to feed off us like parasites. You voted for them, and so did I…. but in the end – we have more in common with each other – than with them.
Do NOT let them divide us. Do NOT let them conquer us. Trust me, they will send us off to slaughter in an instant if it suits them. That is why it is important to remember, no matter your party lines, red or blue…. or green… we are actually more alike than we are apart.
Any issue that separates us… if you look deep down at the core if it, you’ll find that 80% of that issue – we actually agree upon.
We vocalize symptoms of a fear. Without actually focusing on the fear. Return to that core, and remember; the president is an elected official we hire to serve us. I present you, with a series of core issues that have been around a while… and with the different perspectives… but in the end, I’m suggesting a way to look at the situations and BOTH of us compromise to find a solution that can ACTUALLY make a difference – for both of us.
