Batman arkham city down. uncharted 3 down. What’s next? Saints row the third and portal 2…..
Every October and November all the video game companies release their biggest blockbuster games… No… Not on Christmas. See… A lot of the people buying games are parents for kids. Yes as more and more video games are geared at adults and carry an M rating, clearly not for young ones… This is changing… But the matter still holds… Parents buy most games. And parents don’t know what’s released TOMORROW… They have other stuff to worry about… So companies need time to market their product and get the word out that their big expensive Hollywood level budget game is up for grabs.
Second… If a game is going to sell well… You don’t want only a massive spike in December… You want a long standing sell out quarter. Sell out in October… Produce more… Sell out again nov and December….helps to gauge demand as well as show consistent liquid revenue…
Finally…. An often forgotten subject… People take vacations in December…. Including development staff… That you might need to patch things up …. So if you release the game in December, and there are massive bugs, you won’t have any support.
That said… There’s too many games I’m stuck with. I mean… I’ve already bought!!! They are just sitting onmy shelf….waiting to be played… Each one asking for 15 to 40 hours of my time… All in the next month…. Impossible it seems….
Skyrim
Saints row the third
Portal 2
Deus ex 2
Killzone3
Modern warfare 3
Battlefield 3
Dark souls
And I still have to finish gran turismo 5!! That is running on auto pilot over night… Every night….now as my driver collects the last 24hour le mans circuit… Then I’m back in the drivers seat….
