I was hit with a sadness recently… Today actually. An unbearable stress and a madness. It came over my eyes like a wool and clouded my sight. It corrupted my mind and put a chill in my heart. I felt panic. Fear. Loneliness. Frustration.
We all feel this and often it consumes us. I believe it stems from a fear of losing a grip on the things we work to keep. To build. To maintain.
See… We slave day in and day out… All to feel a sense of control and order. It’s a false sense. This sentiment… That somehow we have an ability to exert force on the world around us. That through our actions we can somehow affect the outcome of our world. We know in our heart that… Anything can happen… Both good and bad. But… Somehow we try to make sense of the chaos and fool ourselves into thinking that when things are good it’s due to our actions… And when things are bad we blame and wonder what we could have done to get back on the good. When in reality… No matter how much we know and plan and scheme… There are always factors at work that far outweigh any efforts we might make.
As the day passed… And the fear subsided…. I was sinking into a feeling of melancholy… Perhaps an answer is not the term to refer to this… But more like…. A realization. The preparation and efforts are NOT wasted. Not by any means… But it’s important to remember that our strength comes from our ability to adapt… To negotiate with fate… And to constantly adjust to our chaos. The quicker we utilize our skills to adapt… The quicker we can find peace. If we fight the waves of change … We well get swept away…. If we feel the ocean and accept their whims… We can ride them and find peace on the adventures they take us.
It’s important to assess ourselves fairly…. Know our limits… And not take the worlds issues to heart… But rather to look around and see … What are we willing to partake in? Not all chaos is bad and not all order is good. Find the stillness… Know your limits… And step out into the maelstrom with whatever tools we may have to brave the unknown. Accept that they are your best… And if it’s not enough… Find solace that trying was better than giving up, and you have accomplished something others have not….
– if you shed a tear…. The world will ignore it… But crack a smile… And the world will wink back at you….
– Try all you might… You cannot win every day…. But you can’t lose every day either….
– You may not emerge unscathed…. but you will emerge….whether you like it or not….
